November 4-Isle of Palm, SC

We left Georgetown at 7:15 under cloudy and cold conditions- 48 degrees!  Now we know why this area is called the “low country”; no hills or trees- just scrub brush, sand and oyster shells.  For miles there were no houses- high tide would have flooded them.  The waterway bent and turned like a snake, sometimes wide but more often narrow  and circuitous.  We were overtaken by fewer boats today; not as many people out on the water.  It eventually warmed up to 63 degrees and by 2:45 we were at our marina in Isle of Palm where we got some diesel.  We calculated our mileage and fuel consumption- we get about 3.6 miles to the gallon- talk about your gas guzzler! A lot worse than our Suburban!!
we saw a few more luxury houses like this one  tucked back in the salt marsh as we approached Isle of Palms.
