Nov. 8- Fishing Creek, SC
We were up at 4:00 and left Isle of Palms Marina at 5:00 under cold and dark conditions in order to get under a fixed 65’ bridge during low tide. If we waited longer we risked being unable to clear the bridge with our 63’ mast because of these recent unusually high tides brought on by the moon and the recent nor’easter. We passed charleston as the sun rose.
Then we had to wait about 2.5 hours for a draw bridge to open at 9:30 (it won’t open between 7:00 and 9:30 due to heavy commuter traffic). It was an altogether tiring and frustrating day! We anchored at 2:00 in Fishing Creek, just off the ICW in 28’ of water. Time for a nap!
